About The Gillian Lynne Theatre

The Gillian Lynne theatre (formerly New London Theatre) is a wholly contemporary building. But the site has been home to a series of entertainment venues for a long time, dating right back to Elizabethan times. Nell Gwynne, the infamous mistress of King Charles the Second, was reputed to frequent the tavern on the site, which was once marvellously called the 'Great Mogul', where, in the early 1700s, trendy 'Glee Clubs' and sing-songs were held in the hall next door.

Was I Surprised How Brilliant This Was?
The set is sensationally clever. The actors (with a special mention to the “potato” but feeling ill at ease to single out anyone!), all have the most Brobdingagain talent. The unanimous view of all who I listening to on the way out was that the production was sapient, perspicacious and simply a complete triumph. Whoever put together that team of actors set designers and script writers are geniuses. Only possible negative I can think of is that it needs trimmed by 15-20 minutes to fully keep audience on board all the time. Simply Excellent.

Great performance and clever use of set.
Very well performed by the three actors, with great storytelling. It did however feel that the last 30 years of the timeline were rushed through/glossed over, and some earlier parts could have been shortened to balance it out more.

Meaningful-must see
This play was impactful…personal and family relationships , how values can change or deteriorate with new generations, and what can happen in corporations. In spite of what happened to Lehman Brothers, this play left you with a positive feeling about the three Lehman brothers and an appreciation for all they accomplished. I highly recommend it.
